Who Cares About the Literature Community?A few days ago we had a chat to discuss community issues and solutions (see the original journal for details). Huge thanks to everyone who came and raised awesome points!
It took 45 minutes for the volume of talk to max out Sta.sh Writer's character limit and this chat went for two more hours, so I'm just going to summarize the key discussion points, starting with big actionables for #CRLiterature and for the community.
I've put the chat stuff lower down as it's denser: the outside bullet is the issue, and the inside bullet is possible solutions (not necessarily in order, each point is really a response to the original issue). There is a lot to think about in there, but feel free to pick and choose the issues you care most about. :)
Sorry for leaving a lot of stuff out, but I hope you guys are too busy figuring out how best to act on what we discussed to pay too much attention

This is a weekly feature of amazing literature that I come by during my
travels across deviantART. This is only a small sample of a vast amount
of wonderful pieces of literature written by absolutely fantastic
writers. Each deviation was carefully selected from a writer's gallery
based on structure, impact and word usage. I will never feature the
same person twice (though this gets harder to keep track of
now that we can change usernames), so check out these lovely writers now while you can!


New Survey Process:wave:
Hellllllloooooooo everyone!  It's been like forever since we chatted last.  Aside for being angry at us for slacking the last couple months, how are you all?  Your pairings still holding up?  Are you still waiting for a pairing?  Do you need a new partner?  Are you ready to assassinate the staff because we're so behind? 
Don't answer that last one. :giggle:
We're WAY behind with getting pairings done, and it's because we're all running busy schedules.  So after a little pow-wow, we've come up with a new and improved way of getting your surveys into us.  We'll no longer be manually entering each survey into our database (which is VERY time consuming, by the way).  Instead, we're going to direct potential beta readers and writers to an outside survey (hosted through GoogleDocs, so it's completely safe and virus free, we promise! If you find it otherwise, `thorns will serve up `GrimFace242's skull on a spike for all to throw
In need of some help^^Hello (: I'm starting a new story, it'll be set in a post apocalyptic world and I need more characters for it so I would be very glad if someone could help me out by filling out this form. If you want to fill it out please post it in my journal on my page, also you don't need to fill out everything.
what's wrongThe little girl wakes up crying in pain.
"What's wrong with me?"
She goes to school like  always, but the pain is still there, slowly increasing each day.
"What's wrong with me?"
People start to notice, wonder what's wrong with the girl. She has no answer for any of
their questions, or her own.
"What's wrong with me?"
Her friends know how bad it can be at times, helping her stand, walk, or just being there
when she cries.

Someone tells her parents after seeing the blood
Finally she goes to the doctors
"What's wrong with me?"
They run multiple tests, repeating some for clear results
"What's wrong with me?"
"We don't know"
She feels like a medical experiment. A human guinea pig  
Trapped in her own body, she feels like giving up.
"What's wrong with me?"
People start rumors about her. They all wonder

She goes day to day getting worse not better.

Help :cI'm wanting to start a new story and hopefully make it quite long but I have absolutely no ideas. My head is empty :'c I was thinking of doing one set in a post-apocalyptic world but like....need characters and background stories o3o my mind can't cope with so much. So I would be over the moon if you guys could fill in this thingy with characters you've made up ect :}
Autism's FriendIn Boston Massachusetts, an orphanage held many of the children who lost their parents when they were very young. On specific child who lived there was very different than the others. She had Apsergers, a specific type of Autism, and the people who took care of her didn't know much about her condition. They always thought she was stubborn and aggressive, but her disorder was just making her stressed out. She would have many stims that made her look like she had spasms, but were expected with her disorder. She would always cry outside by a tree with her stuffed owl she would never get rid of. Her condition made her obsessed with owls, and the people thought she was sick and planned to send her to an institution if she didn't 'improve'. One cloudy, brisk day, she sat by the tree and clutched her owl.
'I wish I had a friend who likes owls and understands me…' she thought.

This is an auto-bio of how I became a mermaid and turned it into a job and how someone else can too!
Taking Down My StoriesI knew it was coming and I put if off as long as I could.
But someone is picking at my stories and having random chapters taken down by DA and I won't have them pecked to death.
This is the second chapter in two weeks. I don't know who is doing this since I have warnings and they are still reading the story, and then reporting the chapters.
But fine. I get the hint. I'm packing them up.
So I'm taking down 'Together' after a newly found reader is done. Actually, I'm taking down up to where she has read, and stay a step or two behind her.
Next is 'Daddy's Acceptance'. 'The Gift' and 'Snow Days' is staying up because they are 'clean'.
"My Home" is coming down, but I think I'll leave "Love's Love" up.
The poems stay. As shotty as I think they are, once in a while, someone finds them and think they are good.
Out of my one shot stories, "Late Lunch", "Happy Ever After" and "Walking Home" is coming down. Oh, and "Hello". The other two OC stories are safe. Nope. "Happy Ever After" is staying.
Creepypasta: Grimm RipperHave you ever been afraid of being bullied? Have you ever felt death was upon you during those times? Bullies...It's just something we can't avoid; They come, when the come, that's how it goes. But what if it was just the other way around...Like, the victim..Would torment the bully...?
A boy by the name of Grimm was just moving by into a new neighborhood along with his father, Clyde. His father drove his truck and took him around the new town they had to live in and get used to it. Grimm took a look around as he had a smile on his face, and lets out a chuckle.
"You like the place, son?"
"Yeah, it could be worst. I could do some Parkour around here"

Mission Accomplished

This day marks a monumental milestone in my life. At long last, my novel, The Clocksmith, is available for purchase! This moment has been a long time coming, and I would like to thank everyone for bearing with me through it all. The Clocksmith will be up for sale on amazon.com as well as several offline retailers, but it will take some time for those outlets to start carrying it. Starting in a few weeks, I will be posting weekly facts and interesting tidbits relating to Brigard, the kingdom in which The Clocksmith takes place. Additionally, both locations will see updates on my further writing endeavors. As a side note, if you or someone you know is a blogger or reporter and would like to run a story on The Clocksmith or possibly even interview me, I have press kits available upon request.

Although I have reached the end of this road, it is by no means time for me to rest on my laurels. In addition to marketing The Clocksmith, I have begun writing two new novels. Unfortunately, I cannot give away any details on these books, other than that they both will be taking place in Brigard. I also have been writing a lot of poetry lately, so if that is more to your taste, then that is something to look forward to.

With all this writing-related news, one might be led to believe I have been neglecting my game project, Creatures. And one would be correct in believing that. Sadly, I have moved that project to the back burner for now, but it is by no means forgotten. I have been spriting periodically to keep my skills up to par, but no real progress has been made. My coder and I have actually come to the agreement that the whole thing needs to be redone in terms of gameplay. As I am sure you can see, that is a somewhat daunting task, so don't expect it to be completed anytime soon.

Once again, thank you very much for staying with me on this journey. I am sure we will see even greater things achieved in the future, so perhaps you should stick around some more. After all, journeys are always more fun in groups.
