Literature Text

A hand unclenching/

A sudden rise/

Flashing emerald
against unblinking blue/

We cannot help but wish
to clutch another in free-fall/

Even certain death is better
than uncertain drifting
toward uncertain destinations/

Yet still we rise ever higher
the safety-net of oxygen long-gone
with the memory of solid ground/

Yet still we rise/
I wanted to try something different with the form of this poem. I don't think it really worked, but I figured I would share it regardless and let you decide for yourself. That's the tricky thing about experimental forms, really; oftentimes, the words being conveyed end up pushed aside in favor of the form itself. Hopefully, that didn't happen here at least, but we'll see.

Each line is full of purpose and holds powerful meaning. I especially loved this last line. Very potent. Lovely work, my dear.
